Louis
Hopkins
Assistant Superintendent
- 30 yrs. experience
- 30 yrs. at EGC
Mr. Hopkins has spent a whopping 29 years here at EGC. This
level of experience affords Louis a truly unique knowledge
of this golf course and the subtle nuances that make EGC a
great place to play golf.
Since our redesign in 1993, Louis has become an indispensable
member of our staff. As the EGC1s chief greenskeeper and assistant
superintendent, Louis has an intimate knowledge of the golf
course as well as the amount of maintenance needed to keep
the course in prime condition.
In addition to the mowing and green maintenance that Louis
conducts, he oversees the pin placements and tee locations
each and every day.
His primary task is the proper irrigation of the playing surfaces
and the maintenance and upkeep of the irrigation system. Louis
specializes in keeping the tough greens here at EGC very playable.
The challenging putting surfaces here at EGC present quite
a problem to any groundskeeper. If the speed and maintenance
of our greens were not handled properly they could become
extremely difficult. Louis does a superb job of our putting
surfaces and is a big part of what makes EGC the most pristine
course in East Tennessee.
Louis is also the proud father of an accomplished golfer.
His son Travis Hopkins is attending Walters State Community
College on a golf scholarship.
